Undergraduate Students Intake 2014

The students of the 2013/2017 batch in BSc (Hons) Degree in Town & Country Planning has started their academic activities on 4th March 2014. The inauguration ceremony for the newcomers of the Faculty of Architecture was held on 28th February 2014.


OSGeoSL Laboratory

The inauguration ceremony of the OSGeoSL laboratory was held on 18th February 2014 at the Boardroom of Faculty of Architecture, with the presence of the chief guest, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Ananda Jayawardane, Ms. Anne Ghisla, the representative for ICA-OSGeo Labs network of Asia and Australia, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Deans of the Faculties, Heads of the Departments, Lecturers and Students. The membership plaque was handed over to the Dean of the Faculty, Professor PKS Mahanama by Ms. Anne Ghisla. The OSGeoSL Lab is registered as the 56th lab of the OSGeo labs network.

Sri Lanka Centre for South Asian Urban Knowledge Hub

The Department of Town & Country Planning of the University of Moratuwa has been selected as the Sri Lanka National Centre for South Asian Urban Knowledge Hub, under the project funded by Asian Development Bank. The project aims at the development of knowledge products and sharing good practices in the areas of urban development and resource management among South Asian countries.

Joint Studio:  University of Moratuwa - LaTrobe University  2014

The Department of Town & Country Planning of UoM and La Trobe University, Australia have jointly organized an Urban Design Studio during January-February 2014. The studio was held from 28th January to  8th February 2014. The guests and hosts jointly studied the potentials design improvements in Weligama area.

Individually Supervised Research Project

The Level IV undergraduates successfully completed their Individually Supervised Research Project. The abstracts of the research will be available soon online.
Urban Simulation Lab

Invitation: The Urban Simulation Lab of the Department is now equipped with latest urban simulation software. The aim of this lab is to promote the innovations of urban simulations, enhance the competences of Sri Lankan Urban planning with the use of global technology and, contribute to the readings of rapid and unique urbanization process of Asian context. We are pleased to invite the researchers to join with us to develop the urban simulation domain collaboratively. Some of the software available in the Lab is mentioned below for your information.
